What recent guests emphasize

Comfortable cabins with scenic mountain surroundings

Guests appreciate the peaceful natural setting, well-maintained pools, and friendly staff, while noting some dated features and remote location considerations.

Guests often praise

  • Spacious, well-equipped cabins with cozy, cabin-style atmospheres and good sleeping arrangements (except some concerns about sofa beds and bathrooms).
  • Clean, heated indoor and outdoor pools, along with hot tubs and sauna, frequently highlighted as major amenities.
  • Friendly, helpful staff providing clear instructions and local area information.
  • Peaceful, private location with beautiful mountain views and direct access to outdoor activities, especially snowmobiling.
  • Facilities such as kitchen and dining areas well-suited for families and groups.

Worth knowing

  • Some cabins and facilities show signs of aging and could benefit from updates, particularly bathroom fixtures and furniture quality.
  • The remote mountain location means guests should prepare by bringing necessary supplies and using a vehicle suited for mountain driving, especially in winter.
  • Internet connectivity is available but may be slower than urban areas; TV quality is basic.
  • There is no onsite restaurant or fitness center, though a golf course is available nearby.
  • Local law enforcement may be vigilant with visitors unfamiliar to the area, but staff support helps ease guest concerns.

Best for

  • Nature lovers seeking a peaceful mountain retreat with easy access to outdoor recreation.
  • Families or groups looking for spacious accommodations with kitchens and communal spaces.
  • Visitors interested in winter sports such as snowmobiling in a remote, natural setting.
  • Guests prioritizing friendly service and a cozy, rustic atmosphere over luxury amenities.
  • Those planning day trips to nearby natural attractions like Attean Pond and Coburn Mountain.

Great cabin in the woods experience. Nice pools and hot tub at an incredible value. Would stay here again without hesitation. TV wasn’t good quality but that doesn’t matter out here. Internet was a little slower as well but we were able to stream of our fire stick while unwinding after a day full of adventure.

Really enjoyed this cabin. The views were absolutely fantastic from everywhere you were. You felt totally at peace with nature. Definitely in a remote location so make sure you pack and shop well prior to arrival. The pools were both clean and very well maintained. The staff was also very pleasant to deal with. Definitely a cabin atmosphere and vibe, but still warm and inviting. The kitchen and dining room are perfect for a large family dinner or game night. And the jacuzzi tub downstairs is great.

Stayed with my girlfriend for Valentines Day weekend. We had a great time. Indoor pool was heated, hot tub was really nice, both were very well maintained and clean. We didn't even have to leave the resort to have fun. The rooms were also clean and well maintained, and I loved that they had a pool table. That was a nice touch. I saw a lot of people with snowmobiles and it seemed like a nice place with plenty of room for that kind of stuff. It's up on a mountain, so driving in and out was a little sketchy, but that's to be expected. Make sure you have 4 wheel drive if you're going in the winter especially. Outside of the resort, the police in town are definitely wary of outsiders. I got pulled over twice in 2 days but ultimately no harm done and no tickets once they realized that we actually were just on vacation and not there to do anything illegal. My girlfriend had her car fully searched by customs going back across the Canadian border, which was obviously not a problem because we had nothing to hide, but you could tell they definitely put her on the list. Probably a reasonable reaction from their point of view considering I drove all the way up from NJ to be with her. I would like to thank the wonderful staff at the resort for being so friendly, they really made us feel welcome. I would also like to thank the officers for being so cool about it in the end. They probably could have written me some tickets and made my life a lot harder in general, but they chose not to. All in all, successful trip and if I'm ever in the area again I'll gladly stay here.

Well appointed cabin, 3 bedrooms, 2baths. Very nice porch. Private, quiet. Have not required any service. Room was ready when we arrived. Clear instructions of expectations. Washer and dryer in large cabin. No daily service required or needed.

We stayed in cabin 21. It's a beautiful cabin, excellently located and has 3 better than good beds and one ok in a pinch futon. Both showers/tub suck! There are only 4 small hooks next to the door for hanging things. That's it! A place listed as sleeping 10. I call BS! The pull out sofa was a disgusting ridiculous joke of a peice of furniture. I couldn't even charge the poor soul that got stuck sleeping on that. There has obviously been no money put into maintaining this cabin. Stay away. The amenities at the resort are nice, but we didn't stay there, so I can't attest to it's conditions.

We had a nice relaxing week at Mountainview. Our suite had all that we needed and was comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful giving us much information on the area of things to see and do. The resort is a bit dated and if you are looking for a 5 star resort this isn’t for you, however it had everything that we were looking for. We were told that improvements are in the future.

I would like to preface my review by saying I was worried about staying at this location after reading some of the reviews on varying platforms. However this place was nothing like the reviews!! The place was clean, staff friendly, sure a few things are dated, but nothing unexpected for a Maine resort. It’s Jackman Maine, your in the woods. The pool area, is different but very clean. The sauna is a great added touch as well! Right on the main snowmobile trail, close to amenities. Would definitely stay here again!

Mountainview Resort is unique and beautiful on so many levels. It is a resort that sits nestled in the heart of the Moose River Valley and surrounded by a gorgeous mountain range. The lodge is so nice & cozy with the lobby being very welcoming. They have an indoor heated pool & and an outdoor pool, hot tub, sauna, fitness center, common’s w/pool table, fireplace, tv sitting area, and a reading nook with books available. They have five gorgeous cabins on the property that sleep up to 10 people!! The staff are friendly and very helpful. If you love outdoor activities, this is the place to go! Local snowmobile rentals, ATV rentals, canoes & row boat rentals, and white water rafter nearby.
